Name of Study	Region of Durham Development Charges Study & By-law (includes soft services for Seaton)
Description	The Development Charges Background Study will document information justifying the amount of the Region’s Development Charges for development in the Seaton community. This Region-wide development charge includes the soft services for Seaton. A By-law is passed by Regional Council to enact the charge.

Status	Background Report released April 2008; Public meeting held May 7, 2008
Other Comments	Joint Committee meeting to discuss matter on June 10, 2008. Regional Council meeting to discuss matter. By-law passed on June 18, 2008, and in force as of July 1, 2008 (appealed by Seaton Landowner Group). Region requires another Development Charge Study & By-law to set Regional Water, Sewer & Transit charge for Seaton. The City of Pickering is also required to prepare a Development Charges Background Study and By-Law to identify the City’s Development Charges for Seaton.
