The City of Pickering is the first municipality in the Province of Ontario to establish an Office of Sustainability. A key role of the Office is to oversee and coordinate the City’s Sustainable Pickering program. Working closely with others, the Office of Sustainability is involved in a broad range of sustainability initiatives that help make Pickering a more sustainable city – environmentally, socially and economically.

From this site, you'll learn more about sustainability, what it means to Pickering, and how the City is becoming more sustainable through education, consultation and practical action. The site also describes a number of innovative projects that the Office of Sustainability is engaged in, covering topics such as greenhouse gas emissions, sustainable neighbourhoods, and benchmarking our progress toward sustainability.

Ever wonder about how much money you waste each year running water unnecessarily? Or what it costs to idle your vehicle? It adds up. And it might very well make a difference to your bottom-line and the sustainability of our community.
