Use this idling calculator to see how much time you spend idling and the environmental and economic impact idling has.

1. Using your mouse and computer keyboard, enter your idling time for each item in minutes per day in the boxes.

2. Enter the current price of gas/litre. When finished, press the CALCULATE button.

3. On the bottom of the Calculator you will see your Daily and Yearly totals.

  • The time you have spent idling in minutes daily and hours for yearly.
  • The total amount of fuel consumed in litres.
  • The total amount of C02 produced in kgs.
  • The total amount you would have spent on gas.

3. Press CLEAR button to start over.

Information

Idling vehicles bylaw – Vehicles can not idle for more than 5 consecutive minutes.

Idle – Means the operation of the engine of a vehicle while the vehicle is not in motion.

CO2 - stands for Carbon Dioxide
Carbon Dioxide is one of the main components in a cars exhaust. It is a greenhouse gas. Greenhouse gases are the gases present in the atmosphere which reduce the loss of heat into space and therefore contribute to global temperatures.

  • Based on car consuming 0.02litres/min
  • Yearly is based on 365 days
