Draft Scorecard for Neighbourhood Sustainability

Much of Pickering's new development will occur as redevelopment and infill in existing neighbourhoods. Thus, it is important to measure sustainability within existing neighbourhoods, and track changes over time.

The City has developed a draft scorecard to measure sustainability in neighbourhoods based on the following six attributes of neighbourhood design:

  • Complete & Connected;

  • Land-Efficient & Transit-Friendly;

  • Safe & Comfortable;

  • Adaptable & Resilient;

  • Energy-& Resource - Efficient; and

  • Green & Healthy.

The key characteristics that influence each of the attributes are identified in the scorecard. The City is seeking your input and asking you to rate your neighbourhood. The intent is that a score be calculated for each of the six attributes, which can then be tallied to give a "neighbourhood sustainability" score.

If you would like to participate in this process, please send your contact information by email to planning@city.pickering.on.ca.
