Eco-Handbags: Made from Books!
Normally we want you to read books at the library, but for one time only, we will be ripping out the pages!  Book-lovers need not cringe; we will be changing them into fantastic handbags ensuring the book will be around for years to come. If you want to bring an old book to make into a purse, you are welcome to do so, otherwise we will provide all the materials needed.

Pulp Function: Recycled Paper Workshop
We will teach you how to create recycled handmade paper from old waste paper with decorative techniques using embellishments like leaves, glitter and seeds. Bring your own dried flowers, leaves or grass to add a personal touch to your recycled paper. If you don’t have anything to bring, we will provide you with materials.

Waste Reduction Week is a National initiative that strives to raise awareness about resource consumption, waste reduction and diversion. The City of Pickering gets involved in this initiative annually by carrying out internal and external education campaigns and waste reduction challenges.
